Daughter Arlene Had Meningococcal Septicaemia In 2008
Aged 23 Months

Arlene was diagnosed with meningococcal septicaemia in November 2008, 1 week before her 2nd birthday. She was admitted into hospital on Monday the 24th of November, after been seen by her GP, as she had been vomiting with a high temperature and was really limp. She developed a rash on her hands and feet while waiting to see her GP. Arlene was admitted into hospital later that evening and her temperature was through the roof. Arlene’s white blood count was very high and the doctors circled 13 blood spots. Doctors kept Arlene in hospital for 1 week and treated her with a high dose of antibiotics. Arlene has had several hearing tests since and they have always come back fine. She thankfully made a full recovery, with very little side effects. She has poor concentration and listening skills.
